Frequently asked questions
Here are some questions/answers that we are frequently asked. If you have additional questions that aren't covered here, please feel free to call or email us.
What should I do in an emergency situation?
Call us immediately. We will happily
see an emergency at the surgery during surgery hours, or come out to an
emergency. Outside surgery hours a vet on call provides 24 hour cover.
Do I need to have an appointment to see a vet or vet nurse?
Yes, patients are seen by appointment only. Please phone us to book. You can email too but we prefer to speak with you to make sure you have the appointment you need. Read more about appointments here.
When and how do I pay?
All payment is required at the time of your visit, even if you will be asking your insurance company to pay for the treatment. We accept most debit cards and credit cards and card payments can be made over the phone. Cheques are not accepted.
Do I need Pet Insurance?
Pet insurance brings you peace of mind that you can afford professional and sometimes costly veterinary help for your pet should it be needed.
At what age can I have my pet spayed or neutered?
Spaying or neutering can be done at approximately 6
months of age. Your pet is given an exam prior to surgery to help determine
whether your pet is healthy enough to undergo the surgical procedure. Read more about this here.
What is a pre-anesthetic blood screening?
This is a blood test that is run in the surgery prior to a surgical operation. It tests the organ functions, blood counts and clotting function of your pet. The pre-anesthetic blood screening is done to assure safety during surgery and the ability to heal following surgery.
Do you board pets?
Yes, cats and some small animals. Please call us for more information.
